Joy's Story

Joy chose to focus in the areas of estate planning and elder law because of her personal connection to these areas. With the tragic demise of her father in the 1986 Challenger Space Shuttle explosion and acting as a provisional caretaker for her mother during an emergency brain surgery, Joy has personally encountered the complexities involved in addressing incapacity and loss of a loved one. She deeply understands the decisions families need to make, the emerging questions, and the tremendous impact that effective planning—or the lack thereof—can have on individuals and their families.

In her spare time, Joy enjoys mentoring young women interested in pursuing careers in law. She is a keen traveler and patron of the arts, cherishes time with family and friends, and contributes to the community through philanthropy and volunteerism.
